You Think You Need ERP Selection.
What You Actually Need Is ERP Readiness.
Most mid-market manufacturers jump straight to software demos and vendor shortlists. They skip the one step that determines whether the entire project succeeds or fails. That step is Phase 0.
The Reality
67%
of ERP implementations fail to meet their original objectives.
$1.5M
Average cost overrun for mid-market ERP projects that skipped structured readiness assessment.
$0.00
Vendor affiliations. Zero commissions. Zero software partnerships. Our advice is yours alone.
The Conflict of Interest
Why Your ERP Assessment Should Never Come From an Implementation Partner
Here is something most mid-market manufacturers in Ontario discover too late: the firm assessing your ERP needs is often the same firm that profits from selling you the software. That is not advisory. That is a sales process disguised as consulting.
"When the assessor profits from the recommendation, the assessment is compromised before it begins."
Hidden Risk
You uncover the risks that are usually locked in long before implementation begins, when they are still manageable, not expensive.
False Confidence
You see beyond polished demos and sales narratives, so your decisions are based on operational truth, not curated answers.
Decision Safety
You move forward with independent clarity before contracts are signed, scope is frozen, and money is committed.
You are a mid-market business in Ontario ($10M–$500M revenue)
Your team is talking about replacing or upgrading your ERP system
You have been approached by software vendors or implementation partners
You are not sure whether you actually need a new system or just better processes
You are concerned about the cost and risk of getting the ERP decision wrong
You want an honest assessment before committing to a vendor or a project
Your operations rely on many systems, spreadsheets, and workarounds
You have been burned by an IT project before and want to do it right this time
This Is Built for Canadian Businesses Facing a Systems Decision
If any of these sound familiar, Phase 0 was designed for your situation. You do not need to check every box, even two or three is enough to warrant a conversation.

THE ESSENTIAL FIRST STEP
Phase 0: ERP Readiness Assessment
Before you evaluate a single vendor, before you sit through a single demo, before you sign a single contract, you need to know where you actually stand. Phase 0 is a structured, independent diagnostic that gives your leadership team the clarity to make decisions grounded in operational reality, not vendor promises.
This is not a free consultation designed to sell you something. It is a paid engagement with a defined scope, a fixed timeline, and tangible deliverables that belong to you — whether you ever work with us again or not.

What You Own
Every document, every process map, every recommendation. It is yours. No lock-in, no proprietary formats.
The Outcome
You move forward with clarity, not hope. Your next step whether it is an RFP, a vendor selection, or a decision to optimize what you have, is grounded in truth.
Timeline
4 to 6 weeks from kickoff to final deliverable. No dragging it out.
Who Is Involved
Your leadership team, department heads, and key process owners. We work with the people who actually run the business.
How We Work
A Structured Path From Uncertainty to Clarity
Every engagement follows a deliberate sequence. Each step builds on the last. You never move forward until the foundation is solid.
Operations Visibility Blueprint
Make Operations Visible
Hidden workflows, informal handoffs, and decision gaps become visible. Your leadership team aligns around documented reality instead of assumptions. What used to live in people's heads becomes a shared company asset.
Timeline: 4–6 weeks
01
What You Get
- Documented core processes and ownership
- Clear process maps your entire team can reference
- A single version of operational truth
02
Systems Reality Review
Decide What to Keep, Fix, or Replace
Instead of guessing or blaming the software, you gain clarity on what is working, what is misaligned, and where technology is creating friction. You make change decisions based on operational reality — not vendor promises.
Timeline: 3–4 weeks
What You Get
- Process-to-system alignment review
- Clear keep / fix / replace guidance
- Decision-ready insights without vendor bias
03
Implementation Advocacy & Oversight
Protect ERP Execution
Your ERP implementation stays aligned with your business, not the vendor's agenda. You gain an independent voice at the table, protecting your objectives, budget, and operational priorities throughout execution.
Timeline: Ongoing
What You Get
- Client-side representation with vendors
- Scope creep and misalignment protection
- Structured checkpoints tied to ERP phases

Your Advisor Has Been on Both Sides of the Table
Since 2006, I have worked on both sides of the ERP equation, inside vendor organizations and alongside client teams. That experience taught me something most manufacturers learn the hard way: the moment you let a vendor lead your assessment, the outcome is already decided.
I founded Metadata Advisory to give mid-market manufacturers in Ontario something they rarely get, an honest, structured, independent perspective before the contracts are signed, the scope is frozen, and the money is committed.
My work is straightforward. I sit on the client side. I map the processes. I write the RFP. I keep vendors honest. The goal is simple: make sure you do not get buried in customizations and surprises after go-live.

Let's Talk ...
Our company specializes in consulting, product development, and customer support. We tailor our services to fit the unique needs of businesses across various sectors, helping them grow and succeed in a competitive market.
When an ERP vendor or implementation partner offers a free assessment, they are investing in a sales process. Their assessment will naturally lead to their product. Our assessment is a paid engagement with no predetermined outcome. We have no software to sell, no implementation hours to bill, and no referral fees to collect. The result is an honest picture of your operations - not a pitch.
Phase 0 is a fixed-fee engagement scoped to your organization's size and complexity. We discuss pricing during the free strategy call once we understand your situation. What we can tell you is this: the cost of Phase 0 is a fraction of what a misguided ERP project will cost you in overruns, rework, and lost productivity.
It is never too late to get an independent assessment as long as you have not signed the contract yet. In fact, having a vendor in mind makes Phase 0 even more valuable. We can validate whether that vendor is the right fit for your actual operations, not just for the demo they showed you.
We do not sell or endorse any specific software. If your Phase 0 assessment concludes that you need a new system, we provide vendor-neutral criteria and a structured RFP process. You make the final decision with full clarity on what your operations actually require.
We work primarily with mid-market manufacturers and distributors in Canada, typically companies with $10M to $500M in annual revenue, 50 to 2,000 employees, and operations complex enough to warrant a structured ERP approach. If you are smaller or larger, we are happy to discuss whether Phase 0 makes sense for your situation.
You receive a complete set of deliverables, process documentation, gap analysis, risk register, and a technology roadmap. These are yours to keep regardless of what you do next. If you want continued support through vendor selection or implementation oversight, we offer those as separate engagements. But there is no obligation and no lock-in.
Yes. Our Step 3 service ( ERP Implementation Advocacy and Oversight ) provides ongoing, independent representation during your implementation. We act as your voice at the table, challenging scope creep, translating business intent into vendor accountability, and identifying risks before they become expensive problems.
Common Questions
Questions We Hear From Leadership Teams
If your question is not answered here, bring it to the strategy call. That is what it is for.
Let's Talk About Where You Stand
This is a focused working conversation not a sales call. You will gain clarity on where you truly stand in your ERP journey, what is actually driving the urgency for change, and whether Phase 0 is the right next move for your business right now. If it is not the right fit, you will hear that clearly and directly.
